How to build a funnel for capless automobile fuel tanks
Have you ever tried to put fuel injector cleaner or gas from a gas can into the new Ford Fusion? You can't. The car has a capless fuel tank and a regular funnel won't work.
This page is describes how to build a funnel for a capless fuel tank for around five dollars. The following 4 items can be purchased from the plumbing department at your local home improvement store.
What you need:
1 - 1" to 1/2" reducer coupling
1 - 2" nipple ( 1/2" pipe )
1 - 1/2" coupling
1 - 4" nipple ( 1/2" pipe)
First of all, cut the treads off of one side of the 4 inch nipple (the cutoff end will go into the tank). Next, screw the 4 inch nipple into the 1/2 inch coupling (the coupling is needed to keep the funnel from going too far into the tank) . Screw the 2 inch nipple into the other side of the 1/2 inch coupling. Screw the 1" to 1/2" reducer coupling onto the other end of the 2 inch nipple. Tighten everything up and you are done. Now if you run out of gas, you can use this funnel to put some gas in your tank from any gas can.
Best Wishes
